The Alpinists

alpina’s ambassadors & partners

THE ALPINIST PRINCIPLES

All alpina “family” members - the “Alpinists”- are united by a common aim. They seek performance and progress when facing a challenge in extremely demanding environments. They successfully accomplish their missions by applying the “Alpinist” principles:

We only associate with partners that - like us - truly share, live and work according to these principles, and we hope that any person who adheres to them, and whishes to promote them, will - one day - decide to wear an alpina watch, thereby becoming an “Alpinist”.

Børge Ousland & Vincent Colliard: “Alpinists”

With more than 20 years experience of record-breaking Arctic and Antarctic expeditions, Norwegian Børge Ousland became the first person to complete a solo expedition to the North Pole without resupplying. As a Nansen and Amundsen heir, he was also the first to cross the Antarctic continent alone. Børge is a renowned photo and documentary filmmaker who has received several international awards for his expeditions and films. He is the leader of the project.

French Vincent Colliard, 27, is a strong adventurer with previous expedition experience in Norway, Patagonia and Himalaya. In 2010, he was a crewmember aboard « Northern Passage » with his mentor Børge Ousland during the first historic circumnavigation of the Arctic ocean in one season. They also have been partners on other expeditions such as the first ski crossing, in 2012, of isolated Nordauslandet in Spitsbergen, one of the 20 biggest glaciers on earth.

PrivatAir: “Alpinist”

PrivatAir is a leading international business aviation group, with headquarters in Geneva Switzerland. Since 35 years it is setting a new level of excellence in standards of service and operations of luxury charter flights. Privat Air and alpina share the same standards of excellence in servicing discerning customers and work along identical Swiss principles in the creation and development of luxury products and services.
Both companies are “Alpinists” at the core and alpina is the official watch of PrivatAir.

Aurélien Ducroz: “Alpinist”

A truly modern adventurer Aurélien Ducroz is the 2009 World Champion of Freeride Ski. True to his “Find your limits” Alpinist spirit, in 2016 Aurélien will participate in the legendary Vendée Globe solo sailing race around the world, the Everest of sailing, via the three major capes of Good Hope, Leeuwin and the Horn.

Not satisfied with being one of the world’s leading freeriders - an extreme winter sport where the participants dice with death every time they put on their skis - Aurélien has set himself an even more demanding challenge: to cross the 6’700 kilometers of the Atlantic Ocean solo in a Transat 6.50 sailing boat. Because Aurélien’s world is one of extreme challenges, where the conditions on the mountains or on the high seas are always changing and never less than dangerous, he has to have a watch that he can rely on in all circumstances. That is why he has chosen the alpina Extreme Regulator to accompany him in all his adventures.

Cessna Aircraft Corporation: “Alpinist”

When the Cessna All Purpose took off on August 13, 1927, the aviation world was forever changed. In fact, Clyde Cessna’s cantilever design has been the standard ever since. The history of Cessna is a long line of firsts and today Cessna Aircraft Company is the leading manufacturer of business jets, turboprops and single engine aircraft, having sold more aircraft than anyone else in history. Cessna Aircraft and alpina share the same “Alpinist” values of innovation, perseverance and independent thinking which have resulted in the invention of the Sport Watch and the cantilever structural design in aircraft construction. Two standards that still today are a reference in the watch and aviation industries. alpina is Cessna Aircraft’s official watch.
