Rachel MacClugage

04.10.2010

Rachel was pretty much born on the water but it was her sheer hard work, determination and downright talent that got her her title.

Born into a family whose life was jet skis, (her father is the legendary Bob Crabtree), it was almost inevitable that she would find herself racing these craft –and winning.

However, it was almost not to be.

Although she was racing from the age of 14 by her late teens she needed to take a break – and she stepped away from the sport for nearly 10 years. But the desire to race was too strong and meeting (and marrying) the 13 time World Jet Ski Champion Chris MacClugage was the turning point.

Under his guidance as a world class sportsman she undertook a rigourous training programme to get herself ready. Endurance racing on jet skis is one of the most gruelling and unforgiving sports there is and you need an excellent physical condition to even stand a chance. The vibrations and the battering the body takes as the jet skis hammers across the waters punishes the bot one’s body and the equipment – including the watches!

After getting herself back into shape, Rachel took to the water, and using one of the Yamaha jet skis that MaccRacing (the company that jointly she runs with Chris) had prepared, clinched her world title last year. A phenomenal achievement.

When Rachel was looking for a watch that she could wear whether she was racing across a wave strewn sea or dressing up for a glamourous evening, the Alpina Extreme Regulator for Ladies, with its tough ceramic case and diamond encrusted bezel was really the only choice. This is a beautiful watch for a beautiful woman who has truly reached the heights – and like her, it does not just look good, but is a real high class performer.
