NO MISTAKES ALLOWED
Cross the starting line at the right time
“Get ready to tack”
shouts the tactician. Everybody prepares themselves; blood is pumping faster. Everything must happen as fast as humanly possible and as meticulous as if the operation was being performed in a hospital. No mistakes can be made over the next 10 minutes.
Alpina Sailing Collection watch box
The most important thing when participating in a regatta is to cross the departure line the instant after the countdown is completed. Alpina’s professional sailing watches have been uniquely designed with this objective in mind. Our nautical timepieces feature a mechanical five and 10-minute countdown function, a 360° compass on the bezel and a tactical planner scale on the dial. Also, as befits a true sailor’s watch, Alpina Sailing Collection models are water resistant to 300 metres below sea level.
The development of our Sailing Collection watches was driven by the awe inspiring Extreme 40 Catamaran, a fully carbon fiber racing vessel, designed by Olympic Tornado Catamaran Champion, Yves Loday. We proudly sponsor this magnificent craft, and our collaboration with professional sailors in the conception, precise planning and design stages ensures that our watches conform to the most extreme competition requirements. Make no mistakes.
Ultra readable 10min regatta countdown function on the Alpina Yacht Timer
The countdown to the start of any yacht race is the time when pulses quicken, muscles tense and all senses seem to become sharper and more finely focused. The Yacht Timer has countdown windows from 10 to 1, leading to the fluorescent START indicator, when the action really begins.
